Don Elliott is the owner of Sunshine Chevrolet, LLC and is a proud native of Pittsburgh, PA! His mom always reported that his very first word was "car"! Growing up, he was active in sports and the Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Don graduated from The University of Texas with a combination engineering/business degree. He spent two years in engineering, but just knew it was not the career for him. While volunteering with a Boy Scout Troop, one of the dads commented, "You know, Don, you should really be in sales and marketing." And the rest, so they say, is history.

He has been in the auto industry for more than four decades beginning his career with General Motors which took him to Detroit to be a marketing manager for Chevrolet. He purchased his first Chevrolet dealership outside of Houston, Texas in 1978. His wife of almost 50 years, Kay, has worked side-by-side with him for 35 years.

Eventually, Don owned three dealerships - Sunshine Chevrolet in Arden, North Carolina and two outside of Houston, Texas.

Now, you might be thinking, "Texas AND North Carolina? That's kind of random!" Almost ten years ago, Don and Kay began coming to the Asheville area regularly on vacation. They fell so in love with the area that they wanted to grow their business and invest here. 

In 2023, Don sold the Texas stores, retired, and, in 2024, he and Kay made Asheville their permanent home!

Kristy Elliott joined the family business in 2014 and moved to Asheville, North Carolina. Today, she is the Dealer/Operator at Sunshine Chevrolet.

Kristy is a graduate of Baylor University and NADA Dealer Academy. She had a 20-year career in non-profit marketing, communications and fundraising in Houston, Texas before moving to Asheville.

Since joining the automotive industry, Kristy has been a featured speaker at Digital Dealer Conventions, Automotive News webinars and NADA Dealer Academy. She is a member of Outsell’s Customer Advisory Board and General Motors’ Women’s Dealer Advisory Council.

Kristy has been a passionate community volunteer for many years and is currently serving as a board memeber for the AB Tech Foundation and the Daniel Boone Council for Scouting America.  She also has the pleasure of mentoring two student athletes from the UNC Asheville Swim and Dive team.  When not at work or at a volunteer meeting, Kristy loves travel, reading, concerts and spending time with friends and her Golden Retriever, Chevy.
